Convicts or Oscars?

Why not go a pair of cons and an oscar? I have a very larger oscar with a JD, texas, GT and a breeding pair of convicts in a 180G. Like others have said my cons have their own little hiding spot where they breed. They don't let any other fish come near but they don't go out hurting others either. They just keep them away. I find them very interesting to have in my 180G tank and watch the way they protect their space against my larger cichlids.

^^;; How about a pair of Oscar in your 150G tank and set up a small 20G tank for pair of Convicts. There's your free feeders for your Oscar!! (Convicts do make lots and lots of offsprings!!)

1 Jack Dempsey, 4 Clowns, 1 Pleco with 2 Oscars and 2 Cons? I'm thinking WAYYY too overstocked for a 540L (120g)

Sorry man, When I buy a 50g saltwater tank (Yes, I'm thinking of buying another tank before I even have the HUGE one :) ) I'm going to put my 2 clown fish from my current 20g into the new 50g and I'm going to make the 20g into a community tank.

Oscars all the way. I have a con and he is a nice fish but he is nothing compared to my pair of oscars. I have an albino tiger and an albino red that ive had since 1" now they're 8+ and full of personality. They jump for food and take feeders out of your hand and follow u all the time. Oscars all the way

I think the important thing is just what you want the most. Whatever you like the most is what is going to make you the happiest. Ive owned several oscars and several convicts (including 2 different breeding pairs) and have enjoyed both, but now I own neither. You could do 1 oscar and 1 breeding pair and see what happens. If your set up doesnt work out, you can always change it up.

How about a single Oscar and a Blood Parrot? Or even just a single Oscar.

I'm not mad about blood parrots :) I'll try out the O's first and see how they get on, I already have them in on order in a LFS with the clowns, pleco and jack. Thanks
