u probably can but someone is gonna be hurt. ive seen lots of tanks that do have them mixed living peacefully but its a risk .

cause i love the color varations of the blue johanni an the buffalo heads but i was wondering if i can mix the 2 cichlids speices.

the only thing i know about cichlids is that we have a Demasoni Cichlid i got from the local pet store. all i know that ther really hard to find. he is about 5" an really cool an got a attitude to match lol.

other than that she gets along with the bichir just fine as long as he doesnt stray into the triceratops skull. i just cant get her to eat her food. i got her on cichlid gold but she's not eatin eat. she's eatin blood worms thats for the bichir.

actually it may not eat gold because gold has a smell of more meaty/fleshy food that target more "blood thirsty" cichlids like jags, doviis, oscars, and a few more down those lines.

convicts are like an "in between" stage of cichlid. they are more "gut thirsty" and love insects, shrimp, and things of that nature. so their still carnivorous just not for fish meat. they do chase tiny feeders cause they think its a shrimp. but try feeding it cichlid staple or the premium. that doesn't have as strong of a meaty odor and taste as gold.

Yes, but..what types of african's are you planning to get?? because africans can easily rule a tank. so watch out. especially if your getting a auratus.
