So, I picked up some more frozen shrimp from the store the other day. I wanted something I didn't have to cut up into smaller pieces so I ended up getting a bag of frozen salad shrimp for my ~14" fire eels. They took it just fine and it was the perfect size for them. However, I noticed today that it appears that it is precooked since it is white and red instead of white and greyish-brown.

Will it hurt at all that it has been precooked or does it not matter?

From what i have read (like said above) is that cooking shrimp reduces the nutrients. Also it would probably be a little harder to digest cooked shrimp vs raw shrimp.

I'm not too worried about a nutrient reduction because they get a lot of different foods and this is just one that I use to keep up a variety. In the future though, I will try to get uncooked. By the time this runs out, they will probably be big enough to eat a larger size shrimp anyway, so I will be able to get larger sized raw shrimp.

When I do feed my aro shrimp I do use only raw. If available, take a trip to your local asian grocery markets, they have good selections of raw frozen shrimp lol...
