Cool animal for a college apartment?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hedgehogs are very interesting animals. Nocturnal though and not all that personable. Also a challenge to feed properly (dietary diseases are common in captive h hogs especially renal failure from excess protein)...

Crayfish. Some people find them cute others not so much. Some come to see people when enter the room only to ask for food tho, and they arnt really a fish. Easy to take care of, just a suggestion better then a rock.

If you can a Sugerglider is a amazing little pet I dont know your state laws but i would check into them they really are great also if you are a guy the girls will love them for sure.

Chinchilla, maybe. I have a few... they're very personable, cute, entertaining animals. They themselves don't have an odor, they don't really shed, make a lot of noise or cause a mess. They are higher maintenance, though (they require moderate interaction for them to remain social and friendly, they need to have hay and chews provided at all times, their bedding needs to be changed a minimum of once a week or that will create an odor, they can't be feed treats which we are prone to giving our animals, etc).

But I mean, after the appropriate research and you have everything set-up... they're fantastic pets. Long-lived though, 15+ years, so it's a real commitment (then again, so are a lot of the other suggestions).

Anyway, if you like the idea of them and/or hedgehogs check out chins-n-hedgies.com, great forum, they'll get you all the right info on either species.

Dammit :irked: My brother is shooting down every idea that isn't a dog. Says he wants a "normal" animal and anything other than a dog isn't normal. Idiot.

Just curious why not fish? Thier care can be fit around a flexible schedule and they can be "cute" or "beautiful" for your supposed lady friends.

you should get a wallaby. i cam close to getting one but got 2 alligators instead hahaha
