Channa barca banned
cookie #2
Wiki-
"The Barca snakehead (Channa barca) is a rare species of snakehead. It is endemic to the upper Brahmaputra river basin in northeastern India and Bangladesh.[2][3] Records from Nepal are of doubtful validity.[1] Overall it has been assessed as data deficient by the IUCN,[1] and in 2014 it was assessed as critically endangered in Bangladesh by the IUCN.[3] In Assam, it is locally known as cheng garaka or garaka cheng.

This is a relatively large snakehead, reaching a total length of up to 105 cm (3.4 ft).[2] The species is regarded as an excellent food fish,[2] and it is also highly desired by aquarists, but its rarity, behavior and large size makes it unsuitable for most aquariums"

Not necessarily in Thailand sir

Correct, thread said it's illegal to catch, harvest or export from India -- doesn't say anything about bans in other countries. As such, sorry Dave, we're going to have to take back one of your cookies. :)(

One poster also says (in that 2017 thread):
Mmmmm.... I have several friends here in china that have barcas. Apparently there are breeders in SE Asia and the baby ones have come in multiple batches this year already.

So who knows, maybe they're having some success.

I don't see any CITES requirements. It's on the IUCN Red List. Anyway it grows pretty big and may be difficult to keep.
It may be illegal to export these from the countries they originate from. I see nothing where Thailand has agreed to protect them.

Barrett’s Asian arowanas also grow quite big but that doesn’t seem to be the stumbling block at this point. I think his stall is feeding massive amounts of live food. Lol
