I don't have any problem with normal parrots and have a few myself, but I think the whole artificial color thing is just cruel. And they don't even look good. I mean, seriously, a green blood parrot?

I voted cruel for the coloring, but as Bderick67 said, lack of info.

Assuming the cruel part is the coloring, or is it the fact that they are hybrids, or is it they are unnatural and deformed because they are hybrids?

That's just disgusting, the whole species just disgusts me, they shouldn't even exist, just like mules...>_> Whoever did this better run like all hecks breaking loose if I ever see them.

What the problem is, alot of people think these are a real cichlid. Since these are popular stores stock them, if they didnt, its possible some of the nicer species of fish would be stocked in their place.

If people didnt buy them as much they wouldnt make them. But they make good money out of them, so it wont stop. They should put a law into effect to ban this practice.

yup.
many people i know here in asia that keep blood parrots, dont even know what cichlids are.
they just think tat parrots are good luck or something.

i think blood parraots are ugly fish but thats a neat picture. how do they do that use a needle and inject them with color??? does it last forever or temporary?? i couldnt do that i agree its cruel but it looks awesome..
The color is concentrated in one area so it takes a lot of injections in different parts of the body to accomplish how they really want the fish to look. This is plainly pure torture.

No, this is only temporary. The color fades as time passes but this does not leave the fish resistant enough to skin diseases as the slime coating has already been damaged by the process it had been subjected to. Most of these fish dyed often suffer the incurable viral disease, lymphocystis. This is very common among "colored" glassfish.

but that asian kid looks so happy
That's because he isn't aware yet how much the fish had gone through to get the color embedded into their bodies. Not many people know about this cruel practice. We can only educate and raise awareness. As long as there is demand, such practices will take a long time before they cease.

If they were able to make them like ''Glo-fish'', I would have no problem with it.
BUT, seeing as they still inject them thats not right.
I agree.
