For people complaining it's too small and saying 20g long should be minimum.. Wikipedia-like sites are not the word of god. Those are IDEAL conditions. He's not trying to treat his fish like a king, he just wants a cool fish to show off to his friends, chill out. 1 Ram in a 10g is more than okay. LFS keep about 50 rams in a 10g and they do just fine. People all around the world keep huge fish in tiny tanks, good luck trying to stop them, lol

:screwy:

I was giving suggestions from the experience I have had keeping fish. Not from Wikipedia-like sites.

Most, not all, people like to keep their fish in IDEAL conditions, fwiw.

LFS are keeping as many fish they can in the smallest tanks to increase their profits. I'm pretty sure they would not suggest keeping 50 rams in a 10 gallon long term.

The OP will probably do whatever he wants. From my experience with keeping dwarf cichlids, keeping them in 10's is not good. Get a 20 long,or don't keep them.

As far as the exodons go, I took bitteraspects advice once,
http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=269432
and 10 in a 20 long did not work. 15 in a 30 did.

Zebra danio, tiger barb, silver hatchet fish, upside down catfish, dalmation molly and cherry barb are just a few cool ones

lol.
just because you are not capable of properly keeping up a tank, does not mean the information was wrong.
sorry, but you knew nothing about the species until that thread. you may want to hold off on giving your "expert" experience on the subject ;)

as sugested here (http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showpost.php?p=4506070&postcount=6) and just about every other post and PM i get someone asking about exodons, you absolutely "can" keep a higher stock of this species, if done under the right conditions, but its not suggested. but guess what, i have done it for a long time now, and people before me have also (do a search on the forum, and you will come across a lot of information from other exodon keepers)

or do yourself a favor and read up on the link in my profile.

"Minimum Tank Size

A 30" - 36" tank is suggested to house a shoal of these. In anything smaller, however it really depends on
how many you plan to stock. it is possible to keep them in a smaller set up, but it takes a lot of work, and is not recommended to novice keepers. your best bet is to stick with around 3g per inch."

That's great news.
I couldn't find any information on the interwebs to support your claims.
Opinions are awesome and through them the truth will come out.

ROFL!

How am I not capable of keeping up a tank?

You crowned yourself the "expert" lol. When someone has a experience that differs from yours, they are wrong?

Like I said, JME. Just my experience. Never said I was a expert. You,and only you, imply you are ;)

I was responding to you quoting me. That was all. ROFL!

Great response!

DO NOT GET RAMS. they are very aggresive and will kill the fish you have already. plus they are very particular to water quality. i would stick with other tetras or small tropicals that wont grow over and inch or two. good luck man post some pics of whatever you emd up with

lol, y'all keep debating small fish in small tank, i'm going to get back to keeping and discussing monster fish and tanks. thanks for the laughs and g.l. to the original poster
