i'd have to sat the coolest imo-depnding on what part of the world you live (or mega-income)would be a blue based X back arownana! Second Id pick arapaimas gigas.Of course I cant keep or afford either.

'Coolness' is certainly a matter of opinion. Arapaima gigas certainly has ample amounts of 'coolness' but you'd have to turn your entire house into an aquarium to house an adult! 
The Arowanas also have a high rating on the 'coolosity' scale as do the sturgeons.
For my money, however, you can't beat a bichir (Polypterus) for overall 'coolaciousness' and they're much easier to find a suitable aquarium for than a 15 foot Arapaima or a 20 foot Acipenser.
