Copyrighted Fish Images..

Nah, nothing for free and I wasn't expecting anything for free. He offered me a discount on the fire eel even though it's still more expensive then most places. As far as the pictures go he said he would give me credit for them in the auction, I told him he doesn't need to do that but he simply needed my permission to use them, which I gave him so all is well.

I have no problem with people using pictures of my fish.. IF.. they get my permission first. It's just the way it should be.

If you don't want it used don't post the pic. Some people act like they are pro photographers and do this for a living. The pics are not even that good

:iagree:
The copyright and intellectural property rights remain with the photographer even if the they are sold (unless specified in a contract). If there is profitteering occurring, the photographer deserves his cut.

That was totally uncalled for.

there was no need to be like this. at the end of the day he took the photos so they belong to him. whether they are good or not is not the point.

A simple watermark in the center of the picture will make things a lot easier for you. Some will still use your pics without your permission, but many will not and also it's easier to prove whos the actual owner of the specimen in the photo. Plus it only takes like 2-5 min depending how fancy you want it to look. Id say that time is worth the trouble it will potentially save you.

Wow.. someone pee'd in your cheerio's..

I never claimed to be a pro photographer, I have a cheap point and shoot camera. But the fact remains I took the pics, so they are my pics. You just lost all respect from me.

I guess that may have came across worse then how I meant to put it. Typing does not always capture the way someone is saying something. I didnt expect it to get the reaction it did.

If they are not marked pics or were sold to someone else that did not use a mark and the was reused by someone else is it really legally still your pic?????????????? My guess would be no

it is funny to see the mentality of some of the people on here... if it is on the internet it is free for the taking... go back to DL'ing the latest movie to hit the theaters.

First why would they want to put a water marked photo in their article. Second the original picture belongs to the photographer, they just sell the rights to use the photo unless stated otherwise in a contract.
