Coral snake?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
How long have you been doing what you do?

Ugh... VENOMOUS!!
Not poisonous. If you can't even get that right you certainly should not be working with them...
And if you don't know what a snake is you should NOT be free handling, especially if you have even the slightest thought that it might be venomous. What you have done here is entirely irresponsible and exactly why we are facing so many problems in the hobby right now!
People need to stop and think before they do stupid ****!
Lucky in this case it's a harmless snake and not something venomous, however you did not know that until after you committed the act of sheer idiocy.
Just because you have grown up handling venomous snakes does not mean you should be doing... especially if this is the way you do it.... If at all possible you should NEVER have your hands on a hot snake, especially one from the wild. If your state requires permitting for that sort of thing and you want to continue doing it... then GET THE PERMIT! We don't need any more laws governing us because a few stupid individuals can't follow the existing ones that created BECAUSE of stupid individuals!
Next time you go out and find wild snakes, THINK before act. If you don't know what it is, don't touch it! Simple as that.

Sorry if I am being a little harsh but I am a hots keeper. I have trained for it and I do it LEGALLY. i am also a large snake keeper, also trained and legal. And people like you doing stupid **** like this are the reason my entire lively hood and future are being threatened with idiotic laws. I have tried being nice before and educating and correctly more softly in the past... I have found that it is much more effective to just throw it out there and not sugar coat anything.... people seem to get the hint that this is actually a serious matter if they are being scolded rather than crooned...
exactly. unfortunately it is legal to mess with native venomous in here in texas

Yes and just to let you two know. You have been my inspiration to get a foreign species licence. It's funny how someone can have 6 years of experience and research but something like not having a license will automatically make them a retarded idiot. :)

Oh and I meant permit not license. Just like I meant venom not poison.

It isn't the lack of a permit. Its the lack of caution. Someone i know kept a cottonmouth as a pet for 7 years. Without issue they held it every day. does this make them an expert? no, they were being a "retarded idiot". the point is, having doing something for a long time doesn't make you an expert.

But research does. And the people who get bit most are actually people that handle them for a living rather than someone who doesn't. So its not like if you have license and permits your not going to get bit. Its a matter of the consequence. And I do know the consequences.

It is what it is but, always account for the "oh s***" factor. Alot of people years into get tagged. Like alot of drivers years into, go nose first into a tree driving. Doc's make mistakes. That being sure of yourself will come back to bite you in the @**... pun intended. - N

1. If you handle venomous snakes without caution, the snake doesn't give a darn if you have done research.
2. The snake isn't going to treat you differently because you aren't making money.
3. i didn't say it did.
4. if you know the consequences, i couldn't care less if you died doing this. The problem is, the government does. And they will use this as leverage to make working with venomous illegal.
