Corn Snake Not eating.

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
ok, how this thread when to **** fairly quickly. so in the spirit of the original issue, how long has it been since you snake has eaten? how big is it? what are the temps? has anything seemed odd about the snake lately?

'You may well know alot and have worked in a pet shop, and well done to you if you have gained vaulable knowledge that none of us could (the way its coming across).. No, seriously, well done, '

and

'give you the justice you deserve for working in a pet shop and knowing more'

'you have great knowledge'

'I do not doubt IN ANY WAY you do not have great knowledge so take and relish that compliment'

I do not feel you or I could make any bigger of an argument of this, so lets leave it at that. I set up this thread to get advice, not for it to be turned into an argument thread, so now, let me have my thread and advice as Danyal suggested himsel; 'so in the spirit of the original issue'

DANYAL: NOT SURE OF THE EXACT TEMP BECAUSE AS I SAID I HAVE HAD TO MOVE HIM OUT OF HIS VIV, HOWEVER IM USING TH SAME HEAT MAT (UNDER A THIRD OF THE TANK) AND IT IS IN THE SAME ROOM, SO THE ONLY TEMPRATURE RISE COULD BE AS SUMMER IS APPROACHING ITSELF HERE (IN THE U.K). NOPE, NOT NOTICED ANY DIFFERENCE IN HIM AT ALL, HE STILL SEEMS ACTIVE, HEALTHY AND HES NOT DECREASING/INCREASING IN THE AMOUNT HE DRINKS. GONNA SET UP A NEW VIV THIS WEEKEND FOR HIM, GUNNNA FIT NEW TEMPERATURE MONITORS ETC AND WILL TRY FEEDING HIM AGAIN ONCE SETTLED IN.
CHEERS. :)

around 2 to 2 1/2 months since hes eaten i think.

One thing I can think of is increasing the size, or adding a hide box. When my corn was getting too big for his hide box, he refused to take food because, as I'm sure you know, corns like to feel VERY secure in their tanks. As soon as I put a larger hide box in there it was like he was as totally different snake...took food almost right away.

I hope everything works out.

Thanks alot hun. Ill try that with his new setup, al let everyone know how it goes.

you might want to check the temp, if it's too low he might not be interested in eating and the heat pad may be too hot for him to use. it's not too small so it'll last for awhile while you're figuring this out. my 5'10" kinsnake went on strike for almost 6mo before i got her to start eating again, turned out all she'd take was pinkies. you might try offering a variety of food items, my snake has gone through some weird phases where she'd only take solid coloured mice, or pinkies or only pre-killed. also you might try offering a lizard.

Hiya, Feeding lizards is not an option, as there are no frozen lizards available. Ive tried pinkies, fuzzies, rats, mice the lot, so Ill do his new tank soon then try another feed and let ya all know.
Cheers.
