I'm setting up a 120 gallon aquarium, and in this process I've noticed that there's a very slight grade in my floor such that the water level is around 3/16" higher on one end of the tank compared to the other. From what I've read, such a small deviation in one direction is not an issue when it comes to the tank's structural integrity, but my tank is set up with dual "mega-flow" style overflows, which I understand will not work properly if they are even slightly unlevel.

I've previously leveled tanks using shims spaced a few inches apart, however for such a large tank with a continuous load bearing running along the bottom, my first instinct would be to shim all the way around the stand's edges such that there aren't any, and to use composite shims rather than normal wood shims. Would this be an appropriate course of action?

Can you use a jack post from downstairs and push up the low spot?

I'm not sure there's a low spot, the floor just seems to be very slightly sloped, but no, I can't do that, because it's in a separate unit. I do know what the joists are (no. 1 SPF 2x10s with 14" spacing and a 12.65' span), and they are up to the task of holding the tank's weight.

Get some shims, I used wood shims for my 220 but you can use compost shims if you feel more comfortable. Shim the stand where the structural supports are. For my tank it was the middle and the sides. Level the stand then place the tank on top afterwords. Fill it up and then trim the shims flush with the stand.

In my case the inside of my stand looks like this. It's no longer on carpet, but when I moved it there was an imprint from the (empty) tank more or less around the entire outside.
