Cost of Feeding Monsters

Predatorkeeper: pellets are cheaper than seafood/fish any day of the week. Catfish do not need massivore or designer pellets. Ive picked up 25lb bags of catfish chow for $15.00. Kens pellets are also affordable. I order 20lbs or so at a time for around $30-40 and it lasts me a couple months. Large cats also do not need to eat every day.

How often would you feed adult cats of the species I mentioned, every other day?

Have a lookout for bulk seafood offers. Can easily get a 2lb bag of seafood for under 5$ on offer, also smelts are extremely cheap so have a lookout for those.

I can easily catch a couple dozen smelt or so on the weekends from April-October since I'm at erie fishing every other weekend in those months.

Remeasured my Fishroom space, it's actually 24'x16', not 30'x12'.

Were planning on ALL those catfish in your pond? No way! Niger -4' Giraffe-3' Achara 2+'....... You are talking monsters.

So... The other day I was adding up the costs of all my fish related expensives coming up within the next couple of months and realized I'm not made of money. So I decided to improvise something. Instead of doing a 180G and an outdoor pond, I'm putting in an indoor pond, I've already begun buying supplies for this beast. The smallest it would be would be 6'x6'x30" but I'm probably going to do 7'x7'x30" (916G). For stock I'm thinking I'm about 80% sure I want to do monster catfish, the other 20% of me wants to do natives but I think the view is more suited to catfish personally. For stock I'd definitely have my gibbiceps pleco, striped raph, and yellow bullhead but I want a half dozen or so more BIG (well as big as I can go for this setup) cats. Such cats like a Niger, Giraffe, Channel, Achara, TSN, RTC (last one would be a growout). My question is what would be approximately my monthly, or even weekly costs to properly feed all these giant catfish and would could I feed them to make sure they've got plenty of nutrition but I'm not going bankrupt? Thanks for the help?

Let's give you some idea of costs for a
8ft long x 6ft wide x 3ft tall tank
Electric about £1800 per year
Water purifiers about £60 per year
Food about £700 per year
New UV tubes and filter floss £100 per year
Then add another £200 per year just in case something brakes

So yes thats good money spent on a tank yearly

This tank has been running 5 years so you do the math

Do they put chlorine in the water in London T1?

Probably

When I had my 350g with no drip I used to use seachem prime with no issues

No I filter via Hma and a RO mix 300 gal per day of cheap water goes it via a drip so it's not worth risking what the may put in

No water meter for me lol

I only feed my large cats 1-2 time a week at best. Sure some will eat everyday but id compare large pred cats more to reptiles who take in maybe one large meal a month. I keep a very varied feeding regimen for most all my cats switching up foods and # of feedings per week, i do spoil some more than others but i often give them a break from time to time to digest for a few days also. Sometimes i give them daily feedings and some times i feed one giant meal a week. Some have been with me for 6-8yrs now and all are doing just fine. This may sound cruel but overfeeding can be more detrimental to their health and cause issues like bloat. Ive also fed cats so much pellets in my earlier yrs they blew out their anus. You can feed small amounts every day if you wish, this is actually better for ur filtration but you just have to be careful not to overdue it. They dont need to be packed chaulk full every day or every other day even. Ime cats will not accept large meals every day anyway, u can only fill them so much before they give them selves a break to sit back and digest/grow.

That sucks man. Around here I just use water straight from the tap, although if I had a drip I would be more careful.
