Are you sure of that heater thing? wouldn't it be logical to think that if I turn it off during the night a decrease in temp could worsen his condition?.
Yes I am ;) trust me, on the early days when I had no acess to antibiotics, I cure some only by that, lots of heat during the day deacreasing at nigth. Thouse keept 24 heat died:confused:
About baytril, what is the formula? does it contain peniciline?. that medicine does not exist in Mexico, it doesn't at least under that name but if you gave me the formula I could look for it under another commercial name....
Eurofloxaxin
How did you manage to give your sick turtles that medication and how often did you give it to them?
Its a injectable, only vets can give it. Would also help to know the size of turt
Wait for your input.

Ok Coura, I will trust you and turn the heater off from this night on...

eurofloxaxin. does it contain Ciprofloxaxine? it is the name of the antibiotic.

My turt is small, about 2" of shell.

Cheers.

To my knowlege no. The comercial name its baytril.Im shure you can find it in Mexico as its widely used on dogs, cats, etc. Its a injectable and as such you need vet assistence. Have you talked to any? Even if it doesant know nothing about turts I can give you the dosage and she uses it. Injecting turts is no big deal, however since your turt is so small a dilucion calculacion may be needed. Try to find at least a willing vet and we will see. Your turt is big enough to be injected. This antibiotic is injected in a subcutaneous way in the lose skin of a turts arm pit. Its to be taken daily for 6 days. After the first dose you should see a considerable improvement
My turt is small, about 2" of shell.

You can also try Terramicin, wich has the advantage of being avaible to be taken oraly (normaly used on lifestock) but the rage of patogens it figths is smaller. It does nothing against fungus.

No prob:D Any updates yet? Have you find a vet?

Hi Coura.

Turt is set apart in a little plastic bucket with a temp of 29-31celcius during the day and at nights i unpluged the heater and temp drops to 26-27 celcius.

I was able to get biotryll in talbets. I cut off 1/4 of the tablet smash into dust and mix to the turt water so he can drink it.

Turts amout of water is very low so the mix could concentrate a little bit better. The turt remains in that water per all day.

Now I have noticed a slight improvement, Do you think it is enough?.

Anyway I am taking to the vet tonight to have it injected.

Cheers.

Baytril can also be tubed into an animal orally, ive done this on many wc blood pythons that come in with ri.Do you have a UV on the tank-essential for any turtle IMO,even snappers. Also, check your water quality, this is what normally causes a lot of turtle problems along with incorrect diet.Personally,i wouldnt drop temps at night on an ill animal.Regards to food, eartworms (think you guys in the US may call them nightcrawlers?) get many turtles feeding well.

Hi.

Well as we talk right now my brother is taking turt to a vet. days go on and turt remains the same so there is no opotion but to take him to a vet and have it injected or whatever is necesary to save the turt.

It is not the water in my tank which is close to mint and temp is ok this turt arrived sick, I just bought it.

Thank for your comment dude.

Cheers.

The temp is more then fine;) But one thing, you arent supose to keep the water level that low, that will result in less then good water quality and also in my experience, deeper water helps in getting the infection beaten as it promotes deeper breathing wich helps clean the lungs(the floating is gas traped inside the turt because of mucus and pus). Biotril inst the same thing as Baytril:confused: However if you can get terramicin it can be given oraly with meat and I can give you the dose. Its good that your bro is taking the turt to the vet, lets see the out come. If you need it I can also give you the dose of baytril injectable.
