Coverting Freshwater to Saltwater

As for crushed coral substrate - it's fine. It's just like any substrate.... if you do it wrong, you'll have issues. Keep good flow and keep it clean. Problem solved. If ANY tank has build up of junk in the substrate the owner isn't taking care of it correctly.

I know he looks bad but dont shoot me about it!!! He was like that when I got him!!!!
As far as a bigger tank for him, IDK bout that!!!!!!! Ill prob just find him a good owner!!!!
But my 3 year old wont be happy bout that cause he already said thats his fish and he named him Elmo!!!!! lol

Well lets see. Maybe elmo was stunted by a previous owner. You definitely have some time to get him fixed up...and that will take months. You being here and asking questions shows that you are legitimately interested in the well being of the fish, Im not concerned...just trying to warn you. I have dove with sailfins in hawaii that were the size of briefcases when they were fully opened up. They get big.

+1...I also feel as if we answer every question that is asked...a lot of the other sites will just blow you off if you are not a member of the "good ole boys" club.

Well I tried to get Elmo some vitimans and couldn't find any at the 3 stores I went to!!!!

Also I cleaned the majority of the blue background paint off!!!!
I think the tank looks alot nicer now!!!!!!
