There are more wolves than just the grey wolf, there are also wolves in africa as well and in the indian sub continent. As for the dingos and their cousins are not from the grey wolf, they are from a asian wolf. Just so not to confuse anyone but not all wolves live in packs, only really two species live in true packs the grey wolf and the european wolf. Most wolves that live in the tropics live in mated pairs or groups of parents and offspring.

yeah we got it. OP is talking about the coyotes in South California mountains. A coyote is a coyote, end of the story.

Sounds like you dont know how much about the coyotes and the wolves too. Wolves are cannibals too and they will kill other wolves, its not uncommon and its not only male and offspring but any canids are fair game. Also they do not force the females join their pack, its not how it works. Females seek out a new pack to start family as there can be only one female to have pups, and that is alpha female. Please come back again after you already took some wildlife/animal classes.

Weakest wolf will have a hard time to catch up the strongest coyote and Ive seen coyote can hold their ground against a lone wolf just like badger. Coyotes are very aggressive than wolves.

coyotes in california lived alonside the saber toothed tigers and the dire wolf i dont think they will have any probs also here coyotes will take dowsn pretty large 200-300 pound mule deer by haveing 2-3 coyotes chase the deer away from other deer and into ditches or wooded areas were other coyotes flank the deer from the front and sides

also alot of coyotes in california have interbred with stray german shepards and malamutes and the offspring bred with coyotes again so is it possibal that the hybrids are more powerful than wolves

i am now talking about coyotes here that are pure coyotes vs the other coyotes in north america that did coexist with wolves and not with ground sloths dire wolves and smileadon and the short nosed bear like coyotes in california did also the only known fatal attack on a human occured in rural california why is this

huh? You lost me.

the coyotes that evolved in california coexisted with the dire wolf and saber toothed tigers, colombian mammoths, mastadons, ground sloths and short faced bear(cave bear) there were also extinct cammals, elk, ancient bison, pronghorn, pecary or boar, mule deer, blacktailed deer, and extinct deer these are known from fossils found in the le brea tar pits and when diamond valley lake was dug california is known as the dire wolf fossil capitol of the us and unlike the coyotes that mixed with wolves thousands of years ago coyotes here probably ocaissonaly mated with dire wolves wich were like wolves on steroids they along with almost all of the animals except for bears, pronghorn, deer, tule elk, javelina, fox, jack rabbit, mountain goat and coyotes went extinct inbetween 10,000 and 6,000 years ago mountain coyotes here could be the largest pure coyotes with no wolf ancestory unless they have some dire wolf ancestory in the us also the only known fatal attack by coyotes on a human was in a rural part of california no grey wolves ever existed in california becuase of the huge population of dire wolves but also things like huge amounts of snowfall and large domestic dogs and boar and deer abundant mountain coyotes may get bigger since unlike thousands of years ago they have no competitors except for humans

huh? Im so lost in that one...And your information's incorrect. Shortfaced bear are not cave bear, its not even same species! I dont think dire wolves will mate with coyotes because well dire wolves are more bigger than grey wolf and they will easy kill coyote. Grey wolf and dire wolf live in same area in same ice age and the dire wolves treat grey wolves the same way of grey wolves treat coyote at present day....If the dire wolf wont mate with grey wolf then why the dire wolves should mate with coyotes thats even smaller and weaker than grey wolf? There are lots of pure coyotes in United States, just not only at California mountains....what is your point about this? Grey wolves does existed in California in Ice age along with dire wolves too.
