i purchased a few ac110's from drs foster and smith about 6 months back and it's been sitting in my closet ever since.

today i opened it and found it badly cracked in a few places. i contacted them and they said its nothing they can do since its been over 60 days.

what do you guys suggest?

opening and inspecting packages when you receive them.

Not much you can expect now.

agreed

yea, i ordered a fx 5 from ebay and i opened it up the next day for checking to make sure it was OK. It was good. i'm always paranoid about mail order electronics not working. can you contact the manufacturer? usually they have warranties.

i think i will do that, worth a shot. thanks for the advice.

In the DrsFosterSmith catalogs, next to the aquaclear filters it says "2 Year Gaurantee" but doesn't mention if its from them or the manufacturer.

so yeah I'd contact the manufacturer and hope for warranty

Doubt they will warranty the plastic housing....sounds like it was damaged by poor handling when shipped.

Can't hurt to try, good luck!

Dr F/S is a pretty damn good outfit, I'm a very happy customer.

I think I would lean of Drs F&S a little more. This quote is from their 100% satisfaction guarantee

^ After seeing that quote I would have to agree...

If all else fails... order another one... when it arives (in good condition) call them and tell them it arrived damaged and send back the (brand new / unused) broken one...

If you get into heavy conversation with Dr F&S about the exchange, you may want to order the new one from someone else and pull the switcheroo.

I generally do not support deceitful acts... but in this case your not literally cheating anyone. It's just due to having stored them upon receiving them, you now need to refresh the purchase.
