Cracked aquarium.. please help :(

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
You can patch it from both sides even with epoxy, kind of like they do with windshield's. Then buy a stainless steal L bracket like this

and epoxy or silicone it where the crack meets the corner. Then just add extra silicone to the inside seam or go the extra mile and trim the inside silicone off on the infected corner and re silicone it and it will be solid IMO. I had serious bubbling in a silicone seam with a large chip in the corner on a 90gal tall and used a bracket like that and it held great!

Taking the panel off and resealing can be risky if not done right and is somewhat tedious.

By all means if you have the money replace it or have someone do it or sell it as a terrarium and buy another tank.

My only worry is the waterweight, I know 200 gallons of water is a ton of water pressure on that corner seam where the cracker area is.. thats what we had planned on doing if we patched it was using those corner braces but im just not sure.. as for selling it, I thought about that too, my only problem is I really dont see aquarium this big for sale.. I could be waiting a loong time for another one this size to pop up for sale.

How about building a plywood tank using the good long pane as the main viewing window?

Its 220g of water! Do u want to risk it? Why complicate yourself with replacing the panel. Save the headache and get a new tank! Trust me, give u a peace of mind.

Now that some of you mentioned it I may very well just try and sell it as a repltile tank, I know I will lose some money in the deal but ah well.

Id live to be able to say I can just sell it and buy a new tanm but im only 18 and cant afford a brand new tank. If I end up selling this one I will most likely have to wait until another big aquarium likes this pops up on craigslist locally.. which sucks, cause aquariums this large dont pop up too often at all.
