Cracked glass on huge tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Maybe you could replace the bottom pane with a plywood bottom. joey02 joey02 has a build series where he made a 500ish gallon tank using the sides of two 150’s and a plywood bottom. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do the same. It still will require a bit of cost in materials because pond armor is not cheap, but you should be able to do it for much less than a glass pane would cost.
Would that require 1.5 inch plywood or close to 3” could you also send me a link to the build forum of joey’s tank?

Here is a link to part 1 of the build.

I would imagine that if the plywood is well supported, 1.5” will be fine. You will probably need to support it multiple points underneath, as joey02 joey02 did, but it should work out well and be much cheaper. That is, if you think you can make it work well.
