hey, i just bought a 135? gallon tank. its at least 10 years old via prev owner. when i filled it to check for leaks i found this crack (sorry about crappy pic quality.) its only about 1" but goes below the framing. i also included some poss plans i was going to repair with. the glass pieces i figured do at least twice the length of the crack as well as place another on the inside edge of the tank. my questions are 1. how should i place the glass on the inside on the cracked pane or on the supporting to place pressure farther from the crack and 2. should i just go ahead and reseal the entire tank and if so any good advice for resealing a big tank (i.e. bead size, application pattern)

sorry such a long post but any advice will be greatly appreciated.

here are the pics

sorry about the fourth pic. i tried to delete it but it just won't leave

Ok, it's a corner chip and outside so that's good. Get the windshield repair kit that's sold auto parts stores for crack/chip repair and use it outside. Put your bracing repair on the inside to dissipate pressure.

the windshield repair kit is a great idea, I would have never thought of that, but have a similar situation with one of my tanks, so thanks for the idea dr. joe!

thanks dr. joe. does this work if the glass is still in the chip?

thanks so much. i feel better now i thought i was going to have to scrap it or replace the entire front panel
