i would send him a email and tell um i will give you what you bought it off me for. There is no law against reselling stuff for more then what you paid. But I personaully usually just want what i got into stuff for it. But never get that. And 500 for that to begin with is a great price. i would love that deal right now

I could care less that he's reselling it. It's not like I expected him to keep it for life (I didn't, after all).

I could even respect that he raises the price, because you always expect to bargain on craigslist. But doubling the price is kind of sleazy, in my opinion. If he'd listed it for $600, maybe even $700, I probably would have noticed, but not really cared as much.

Personally, I wouldn't care one bit. If I sold it to him, that means I thought I was getting a fair price for it. If he can turn around and sell it for more, good for him. Also, there's nothing misleading about using the word "custom". That's exactly what it is. He never claimed he built it himself, not that it would make a difference. As for saying "built by a microbiologist", close enough. Anyone shopping for an aquarium will recognize that as a meaningless fluff statement anyway. If selling things for more than you paid, or talking up your product were wrong, there would be a lot of people out of business.

Maybe he's banking on CL buyers lowballing him and will probably take way less. I do that sometimes but only ~20% above what I would be really let it go for. Seems even fair prices get haggled down a bit on the flea market of the interwebs.

I'd take it as a compliment either way.

I thought I knew that tank from somewhere, he reduced the price to 800 today some time today.

125gal Aquarium with custom wooden cabinet and lighted hood. It has a custom built 3-stage filteration by a microbiologist. Comes many extras, some fish and decor. $800.00 or best reasonable offer. Call Bruce at 502

i say compliment, your work is worth $800 and if it sells for less, its due to economy, not craftsmanship

I'm curious - did he at least use pictures of it set up in his house, or did he reuse the shots you used to sell it?
