I like looking through the free stuff, just for ****s and giggles.

People, just throw the stuff away. Nobody wants your old curlers, old bowling trophies, or TVs that don't work.

:D I thought that I was the only one that did that. It's funny, I think people just post their crap as "free" because they don't want the hassle of throwing it away.

Prime example, today on my local CL someone posted a free broken stroller...yeah, here, let me pick up your crap and then put my babies into your broken stroller...moron.

on my craigslist there are a bunch of ppl who sell 'full set up' 10 gallon tanks for $200 and some even more crazy than that. but other ppl you got to wonder about cuz they post 100 gallon tank for the same price. Either they have no idea what they are talking about or they have a crappy tank that they want away with or they have a great tank that they need to sell really quickly.

IMO, the people selling small, overpriced setups are clearly casual fishkeepers and those selling midsized well-priced setups are the hobbyists. It's pretty common for serious fishkeepers to have something in the 50-100 gallon range they no longer have room for. Often these tanks are a few years older and have cosmetic shortcomings such as faux wood trim or scratches on the glass. I personally have obtained all of my tanks except one off of CL. Just the other day I found a 29 gallon for 30 bucks in perfect condition. The owner didn't want it because the background was spraypainted a tacky blue. I spent about 30 minutes cleaning the spraypaint off and now I have a brand-new-to-me, crystal-clear community tank. My best find was my largest as well. A 135 gallon tank with wood trim for $200 after a few minutes of bargining. I taped everything off, spray painted the trim with plastic-friendly black spraypaint and nobody's the wiser.

Other CL Finds
20 gallon with lights, heater, rocks, pump, airstone and iron stand for $20.
10 gallon with lights, heater, rocks, decor, pump and bubble strip for $10
2 gallon tank for FREE
20 Lbs of black rocks for $10
5 Oscars for $25
600 crickets for $20
5 large lava rocks for FREE

Got em here in Chicagoland as well. 20 gallon with stand blah blah blah...everything but water and fish.

$250! LMAO!!!!

The deals are out there though. One thing I learned is to PHONE if they give a number. Email and u will lose out to the guy that called. The deals are out there. I got a 90 Oceanic with stand and two Eheim Pro II's for $250. Sold each Eheim for $100. Got me a 90 for $50! WOO-HOO!

did you try ebay? I bought my 200 gallon off ebay.

I bought my 55 gallon w/ cover & stand and tons of accessories on Craigslist for $60. It was filthy though. That guy shouldn't have been allowed to own fish!

I was just reading a cl ad for a 45g flatback hex with 20 petsmart mbuna for $500:ROFL:
I have gotten good deals there though, just got a 30 long for $20

Sold my 50g breeder that was drilled for 30 bucks just to get it out of the yard. Tried to sell my 29 with stand cover and heater for 75 bucks(I thought was a great deal) and didnt get a bite.

i would sell you a aga 90 with overflows and bulk heads and plumbing for 200$ but im in philly pa

bought an acrylic 240gl tank/stand/canopy and a 40gl sump complete with bioballs for 500 bucks thru the recycler. the tank needed to be polished out and i ended up building a new stand/canopy but i have basically a brand system with about 650 dollars tied up in it. had i bought everything new i would be looking at probably 3500-4500.00 depending on who i went through. a little investigating/hard work can go a long way when it comes to buying used tanks.
