i was wondering...if i got a fish and grew it to the point where i needed to upgrade and just sold it on craigslist is this a bad thing?should i be ashamed?and is there an inch rule? like is it like you divide the price by 2 and then add that to the price per inch? or idk something like that

yes and is there like a "rule" to how much to bump up the price. like is there a per inch to bump up the price. like if your fish grows 1" the price goes up by half its original value. 2 questions actaully

ive herd of ppl here on MFK selling their fish every few months to keep the same species at a smaller size and most ppl wudnt pay more than 50% of the fishes value so u would practically give it away

Depends on the fish and how fast they grow I guess...I've seen people here give away full grown oscars for free, but the price for slow growing/harder to find fish would probably go up by a lot(like datnoids). I don't think there's a specific amount of increase that people follow

o all right thx guys

No rule about price, just ethics. If you are selling on craigslist don't assume that your buyer will be experienced. Therefore, don't sell fish to someone without the means to take care of it. Ask questions and screen your buyers.

Who in the hell would have a child, grow it to five years, and then give it away? I know this seems extreme, but fish are a responsibility too. You CHOSE to buy it, even though you knew you didn't have any intention of housing it for life. WHY? Then, you try to give it away on CL, and it's large, and it's stressed, and it's hard to move. Just don't buy it. There seems to be a trend among fishkeepers to become "Monster Fish Keepers," but only until the fish grows. In this case, are you really keeping monster fish? No. I could keep a Great White for two months but what did that do for me or the fish? Nothing.
