Yesterday heard a loud noise ran to see and the armatus had ran into the filter inlet and now is not acting good... Think he is going to make it??

a couple of days ago I scrubbed the algae off of the bottom of my bare bottom painted tank he is in. It was shinny I think and he kept swimming the bottom with face like it was a mirror finish.. The next day he slammed my filter.

Id like to think a lil optimistic right now... Id say turn off the lights and as long as he eats something with in the next day he should be okay. He has signs of strength to swim upright and is balanced... to me that is a good thing as Payaras tend to flop over fairly quick.

don't think they see the reflection the same we do (2 pieces of glass). they crash around when scared so the cleaning may have engrained short term fear memory and thus the timing of response. Once hurt they're inclined to take flight even more, which doesn't help it get better.

armatus are a lot stronger than other payaras. he looks dazed but not critical. when they start loosing balance completely, that's a different story. In time being abate from anything that may spook it. GL

STill alive today... Was not expecting... Still swimming with his head up. No sign of eating though..

I agree on a clear glass tank they just see thru the glass where we see mirror (two pcs of glass. This tank has a black bottom and is glossy.
