Supes13;1642407; said:24-48 hours sounds about right, but to properly molt the need a fair amount of calcium from the water to harden their shells. in your current setup if he molts he is going to become what you originally put him in there for ... a treat.
How do you introduce calcium into the water for them? I want to keep mine as a permanate resident so I want to do whats best for him.
How often do they molt and how will I know? I would think it would be quite obvious, but if he is in a cave a the molted shell is in the cave is it obvious if you see to crawdad?
Also, is there a specific suggestion for food for the little guy. Right now I just put in sinking pellets for the cichlids and he seems to pop out and grab a few once the feeding frenzy is over. But do they do better with meat? ie shrimp or something? Or are pellets just fine for them...and def need to know about the calcium thing. Does this affect the other fish in the tank?
and didnt come out until tonight and it looks a little bigger.
