I agree with this, the second time I fed the crayfish a mouse (dead) they took longer to eat it. I'm not sure why but I'm waiting much longer to give them another. Another quenstion I've had is do crayfish get effected by eating dead/rotting things?

I'm pretty sure eating something dead has absolutely no effect on their health. Rotting? Not too sure but I mean do you really need to worry about having something rotting in your tank?

I still don't understand the mice feeding. A good quality staple food is so much more beneficial for your crayfish's health but whatever you decide to feed them is your choice. I just know I feed my pets the food that's going to benefit them the most.

Of course I dont have to feed my crayfish mice, I also don't have to feed them pellets, wafers, etc. I technically can feed them whatever I want. Like I said, their wild, they were not raised at a pet store getting pellets. They ate whatever they could get their claws on, that being live, dead, rotting, anything; and thats what I'm going to feed mine.

I fed them another mouse today, BUT this one was already dead. You a little more happy now? I'll upload the video in the next couple days for everyone who is asking about it. Its actually amazing to see something eat every single bit of its food without wasting anything. Bones, guts, brains, everything.

I also don't get "turn on" by feeding my crayfish unique food. Stop climbing the ladder of assumptions and deal with that not everyone will agree with you.

Thats the issue is your uploading the videos. You do that and they wil delete this thread as well. I think there are better things to feed your cray then mice

There are a TON of great staple foods you can feed them, unfortunately they aren't as fun as watching something drown and be ripped to shreds.:nilly: I can't see there being much nutritional value to feeding mice whether they are dead or alive

You know that for everywhere in the world? I know for a fact they are eaten on a regular basis in small streams. Especially where it is too shallow for fish such as trout or blue gill. Around here I've seen crays eating everything from mice to elk carcasses in streams. Something dies in a stream, a crayfish will eat it.

Contradiction... Above statement to below statement.

None of these are natural.

I can say for a fact that this statement is false. There is no need to sink to being childish.

Wow...lol. I think someone just got pwned.

You go WyldFya! :headbang2

Actually nobody get owned in here. Majority of crayfish species do not have access to elk carcass. No matter how often mice/elk carcasses ended up in the rivers/creeks, it's still rare treat for a crayfish.

They are natures clean up crew, it's what they do, they eat dead every thing. Most every thing washes down to the rivers with weather like dead rodents. You think they are going to look at a dead mammal and say it's going to make me fat I better not?:ROFL:and yes you are right for them it's a treat, in your own words.

I've personally witnessed crayfish eating human babies

I'm sure if they found a drunk Hockey player in a Minnesota creek it would eat that too.:ROFL:A!!!

i don't think the thread would get deleted unless people were in an uproar and fighting. We post piranha feeding vids all the time and they stay up until random people wonder in and bicker

So...been a few days, how about that video/pics?
