Here's the reply I got from them regarding my email:

Hi!,
I recenlty stumbled onto your products at Walmart and was interested in using them for auqariums. I know they say non toxic but I was wondering how they would react being submerged in water. Are there any particular chemicals added in your products that I may need to watch out for?
Thanks
Jed

My apologies for my delayed response. Our product is non-toxic and certified by the Arts and Crafts materials institute as safe for children. The sand is washed prior to being coated which should rid it of most contaminants. None of the pigments and bonding agents we use are toxic , however, we have not done ANY animal testing. While I would guess it would be safe, I would suggest starting in a small bowl with similar ph and perhaps a gold fish before putting it in with anything else.
The good news is that I have had this question a few times and we will be looking into it. I have had several customers that have said that they are planning to test it on a goldfish and I have not heard back from any of them, so hopefully that is good news and it worked fine!!!
