On a lighter note: Good job kids, why don't you mix up the different color sands that mommy and daddy paid for and now we are going to have to replace because it is going to look like crap!

LOLZ! Thats what I was thinking. Sort of like when different coloured Play-Doh gets mixed together and you are left with some nasty brown colour. I hated that!

nice looking sand
but as someone else already said if it is safe for children then it is safe for the tanks too
but still a precaution is better

I recently stumbled onto these at Walmart and I am curious if it's safe for aquarium use. I'm almost tempted to buy a bag and test it out on feeders to see if it's safe.

Anyone have any experience?

they are treated with an anti-fungal which is dangerous to fish. NEVER assume that if it's safe for kids, it's safe for fish. just search 'sand' and read through one of the hundreds of threads about sand. This stuff has been discussed before.

Didn't you ever have a sandbox?

How much does the stuff cost?

My question is, what kids play with freaking sand? :screwy:
all kinds
at least thats why the beach was a fun place when i was a kid after playing in the water

i'm pretty sure that NO its not safe probably has silica in it

Doesn't all sand have silica in it? Unless you are using something like carib sea stuff I would assume it does. Silica isn't bad you get more of a brown algae bloom (diatoms) but you just have to know what to do to control it.

As for the colors I would hope they don't leech colors since there will be some pretty ticked off parents. besides I want some for my sand box out back!!!!!! :headbang2:ROFL:
