So i went to a somewhar local petstore yesterday and was sad to find all of the fish diseased and overpriced and all the animals in way too small of cpages. There was a baby alligator for example in a 20long with his nose and tail touching the glass on far sides. The store was dirty and i would never give money to this type of business.......ijust wonder at what point does itbecome animal cruelty.

Its just sad to see animals in that condition. And the place is always busy because they have specific display only animals people go to see like an 8 ft gator in maybe a 8x8 space thats all water....im sure hes happy...........

there is no point talking to the owner. i would just report them to local authorities. people who run pet business like that are simply amoral and view animals as merchandise.
i have tried to talking to them, they simply do not understand.
best case scenario- they'll look at you with their beady little eye in confusion.
worst case- they tell you to leave.

When conditions are as bad as they are i think the store owner would know......they had two extremly large plecos well over 12 inches and a oscar about 6 in the same 20 gal.......with three empty tanks right next to them........i wanted to take pictures but soon as the phone came out a worker apears

Hey OP I know it's very disturbing to see these kinds if conditions, but like someone else said try and start with your local authorities.. your likely to get much more frustrated if you talk to the owner..

I agree, animals are just merchandise to poeple like that .Not everyone is striving for perfection in their pet stores. Sad situation.

Report them to local animal control, also check and see if there is a state regulatory agency, and file a complaint with them.
