crazy p diet question

you can take a cube of beefheart and mix it with the pellets so the pellets are all covered in beefheart. This will get them started and then phase out the beefheart and they will still eat the pellets

I found that when the food is big enough then every single fish will get good amount of feeding, when I feed multiple small pieces those greedy big guys always eat more then the smaller ones.
I just get whole fish (perch, butterfish, large smelt, etc) from asian grocery stores and they love them, tail, fins and bones, they eat them all.

I think ballin said something about feeding his p's crickets...tried it out today, just got a dozen and they loved them! I also tried silversides like jp said but they didn't really like em'....their faves so far: shrimp, tilapia, and spinach. I have been mixing in the pellets but it is hit or miss, most of the times they just ignore them or spit them out.

First, JP has the best shoal feeding vids. Love watching them everytime, even if they're old

Second, if you haven't seen this feeding montage vid (not mine or JP's for that matter), check it out. Warning there is a rather large frog being feed to a manueli

Third, did your crickets escape like when Foster feed her Ps them? hahahaha. I'm still laughing thinkin about her and her mom runnin from crickets. Which pellets are you trying? Mine outgrew the hikari cichlid gold. Ate them when they were smaller, now they'll only take larger pellets

These are different P's but from a similar quality condition. Those 3 were sent on to another home with more room. I have somewhat of a fish rescue type thing going on.lol

No escapees...lol, just quickly dumped them in there. They are Wardley Shrimp Pellets...medium size. Says-protein to fat ratio supports normal growth and clean water. Crude protein-30%
Crude fat-3%
Crude fiber-10%

Love the videos...I will try bigger pieces of fish...maybe less smelly fish. I put a huge chunk of rainbow trout in there last week and it stunk up my whole house, it was horrendous!

if these were rescued under similar conditions I would bet money on the stunting theory. Ammonia and NitrIte, and super high amounts of NitrAte for prolonged periods of time can definitely impair a fishes development.

I think Jp made a very good point almost no one thicks about when feeding their piranha none live. Piranha grow at such a fast rate maybe they need the bones(whole fish) for their growth potential.no live diets might be preventing rbp from producing big strong bones.I know nothings more nutritional that actual live feed.

the fish doesn't have to be alive to feed the whole fish right? You could feed a whole dead fish that your bought at the supermarket.
