  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hopefully too much damage hasn't already been done to my newest ones, There were 30 2" -4" p's in a 55. Seem like I have a battered and abused fish shelter here.

Love the videos...I will try bigger pieces of fish...maybe less smelly fish. I put a huge chunk of rainbow trout in there last week and it stunk up my whole house, it was horrendous!

when the fish is fresh it shouldn't smell at all.
if you take out the uneaten piece and left it sit in the garbage can then it can stink up the place especially on a hot day.
you can feed them large piece of fish the night before garbage removal so you can take out the leftover and it won't stink up your house. or just leave the leftover in the freezer until you are ready to throw it out or feed again in next feeding.

Burnners gotta point - it's not uncommon kowledge that vitamins diminish with time.
A live fish will contain higher levels than that which has been dead for several weeks.
Cyprinidae are hardly the only live fish used as feeders, they are just the dirt cheapest live food source kept in the worst living conditions. My Payara and Cudas aren't weened - they eat mollies, plattys, cichlid fry to name a few.

Good info to know... yeah it was marked down at the grocery store, so I thought I'd try it out...I'll stick to the usual: tilapia and shrimp. I am trying out these veggie cubes today. thanks jp

I'll agree with Bruner247 when it comes to growing any carnivorous fish i never found anything better than live fish for putting size on your fish in a quick manor. and I never lost any fish for feeding them. And I had the same experience with raising Oscars one time fed them all kinds of dry foods for about 4 months yes they grew, but you what to see how there size took off when I started feeding live fish. Its just a natural thing. Just my experience, you be the judge.

avoid lunch meat, it'll kill the fish...i know people don't like feeding goldies to their prize fishes but when you think about it, that's all the eat in the wild

i would gut load your goldies with a bunch of pellets and then feed the piranhas, and then see who's would win out =D

Is any body feeding their piranhas Hikari Sinking Carnivore pellets, if so any real positive growth from feeding them. there crude protein min is 47%
