Anyone here ever kept them? I HAD 3 4"ers (my 7" sm and lm bass got hungry I guess, never seen anything that fat before!) They were really interesting while I had them, and I was just wondering if anyone had some info on them that would be great!

I used to have one in a ten gallon witha bluegill and a goldfish and the tank sprang a leak so I had to make a move and the chub died in the move. That is the only one that even ever survived the trip home for me. Seems like they dont do well in transportation. He was a good 4" too and the most amazing eater I have ever seen. He would eat anything and as much as he could.

Really easy to keep! Eat like it's their job. Will eat small fish if afforded the opportunity..
Trouble in transport can be avoided by adding salt to the collection bucket, 1 TBSP per five gallons. I also use Novaqua, about a capfull per five gallons. Don't keep with SMB!

We caught a few dozen in the creek by my house, and grew them out in my neighbor's pond. Then he moved the chubs all 3-4" and his two adult oscars into this huge display tank where my dad works. They all did fine together and the chubs are hardy and we didn't lose many to the Oscars.

We've collected creek chubs in January. If you know where they go, you can still collect them.
I should add that I've seen BIG creek chubs, so make sure you have the right setup for them.

You can still collect in the fall or winter, the fish don't leave the water or anything. Creek chubs are fun to keep and skipjack is right, they LOVE to eat. I would like to have a few larger sized ones some day and see how big I could grow them.
