Bigger and better stores usually have higher rent, staff costs and other expenses than hole-in-the-wall, family-run places.

Is this place fish only or do they sell puppies and other animals?

Matt

Yeah,I see your point. This place,it's called Tradewinds,is pretty much a boutique, all aquarium related merchandise. It has just one aisle of bread and butter fish and very few rare exotics.

There is a Korean sushi restaurant near my house that I have never seen anyone at. We all think it has something to do with some sort of Korean mafia, it is on a busy street and the rent must be super high if they don't own it. If they did they could sell it for a lot.

That's how it is with Tradewinds...busy area, bad parking.I think the owner must have some other busineses and property in the area.

Pics? It sounds like a very sketchy setup.

Korean Sushi? ewwww It´s like russian pizza.

We were in SoCal last year and I bought some Korean sushi. It wasn't terrible, but just not quite right, like Mexican pizza (I've never been to Russia).

There was a fish store near my parents house 5 min walking distance. Its been long closed now about 30yrs. This place was always very messy junk piled up on shelfs very tight isles to walk around. The owner was kinda over weight had bad body odor. But this store had been in business for over 25 years. They had lots of tanks crammed everywhere. Lots and lots of fish and he was very knowledgeable. His dry goods were very limited but his fish selection was the best anywhere at the time. It was a father and son store. The father started it then son took over. I think when the son finally quit the business another fish store open in the same spot with a different name that also lasted there for 20 year before they went out of business too.
