for the benefit of your LFS, please let us know the name of where you bought them. I know like 4 of us here in oc/la counties that will carpool there just to see what other steals they might have.

yo rob you ready to head out....you, me and greg bro let's go.....

for that price i would drive from new orleans or have them shipped to me here because they are gorgeuos, looks like baby lents but what if they are baby marmota's either way great steal of prices becasue both fish are easily 60-100 dollars at 4-8"'s.

They are baby lents, guaranteed. Baby marms look nothing like this.

Actually, its very possible...misidentified or don't know what they are worth. Plus being in Cali...everything is cheaper there! They aren't expensive everywhere you go bro! ;) Just depends on yours sources...;)

Hey nuthinbutcichlids!!! Welcome to the site!! Glad you decided to stop in here at the Crenicichla forum, try to make it as welcoming and open as possible. I hope that you aren't too annoyed or turned off by the constant hounding of some of the members. If you can post pictures, then by all means feel free to, as we would LOVE to see them. If you don't have any, or just don't want to, then do as you wish. No pressure bro! ;)

About your question, Scat. pretty much covered it. There are few other things I would like to point out though. Crenicichla lenticulata are fairly 'mellow' when they are younger. As they continue to put on size though, they tend to get more aggressive. So be ready to move either the lent or the temensis if it comes to that. If the pike starts chasing the temensis, constantly chasing them, then its time to move them as its not going to stop. Once they start dislikin a fish, they will either try to kill it or eat it. They are ABSOLUTELY AWESOME fish though, and well worth the headache they can potentially put you through. You'll definately get a kick outa watching it color up as it grows. Best of luck to yaz man! Any more questions feel free to ask! Hope you will continue to keep out the forum!

Actually, my experience has been that lents are the meanest of all juvenile pikes I have ever kept. They get along well with each other but that's about it. My three ganged up on 6 "Dwarf Orange" (which are not dwarf at all but we'll save that for another thread) and murdered them one by one. The last two were dead this past weekend when I got home from Cali. They also ganged up on some T. asfraci that were larger. I had to remove them. Currently the only fish they are living with that is not named lenticulata is a gibbicep pleco that is about three time larger than they are. I've never had baby pikes act this aggressive.

With that said, they are awesome. Just watch your Cichla for signs of being beat up. When small Cichla are quite delicate. As the fish grow my concers would lessen as long as your tank is large enough. If you're attemtping this in a 60 gallon tank then all bets are off!

i just purchased a C.Lenticulata (is $10 a good price for them) and right now he is in my grow out tank with my tems... the
C.Lenticulata was attacked by the tems (theyre all the same size- 3 inches) but he held his ground now hes the aggressor when they come close... should i be worried?

damn yall lucky... people here mislabel and charge more:irked:

I'd watch out for both. they prob will grow at a similar rate but getting picked on aids in not growing sometimes. distract them with food or get a bunch of the fake bamboo leaves and tie to rocks.

Other than that, split em up if ya can. find some big tetras or silver dollars to put with em.

Scat, where's the dwarf orange thread... thought I had one (was 2) for a while too.
