Just got a new little guy but I am indifferent to what kind of substrate to use?

Chad

Will you be feeding insects or just CGD?

If you're going to feed crickets, roaches, etc... be careful because the gecko may injest some substrate when feeding.

moss may be a good bet, but is still a risk.

besides that, any substrate that holds moisture well such as moss, coconut husk, etc... would work well with them.

hey use this stuff its called cypress bed and its made by t-rex
i have had my crested gecko 4 twpo years and it works good. it makes the tank humid easely

Ok so bed-a-beast would work good then? For now I am feeding crickets and baby food but if I can find the CGD that would be nice to use much easier.

just remember, paper towels are always there and they have like no risk, the only problem is taht they don't hold humidity as well as an actual substrate :(

With a humid hide, that's not a problem :)

My ambient humidity is 50% but the geckos still prefer their humid hide over the dry ones.

How do you make a humid hide?

What species are you talking about? You have a crested or are you talking about your leopard gecko?
