any specific reason for that? doesnt amano use this combo alot? couldnt one be forground and one be mid to back?
yeah im curious on this as well wyld. when i saw the height of these two plants, i thought they would work well since e. angustifolia grows a lot taller. let me know what your thoughts are. thx!

The E. angustifolia isn't the problem, but the E. tenellus and the H. callitrichoides will not mix well, eventually they will over grow each other, and one will lose out and die. Hard to say which, but I'd lean towards the E. tenellus winning. It looks like you have some space behind the large rocks, which would be a nice place for the E. angustifolia, with one of the two shorter plants in the foreground, and something growing on the rocks.

o ok so it would just be keeping them seperated? the E. tenellus will grow really fast right? but you could almost use the E. tenellus as a background/midground (unless you get the mini version) right?

thanks for the input wyld. i see what youre saying. i really like the look of e. tenellus as a ground cover as seen in this pic, but i think my tank is too small to use a plant like this as a ground cover.

are there any other plants you guys recommend as a back ground plant? my tank is 18" tall and i like a plant that stays within this range

tank is looking good, man. I really dig your initial set up. can't wait to check it out with the plants.

Personally I'd add a couple rocks, and move the wall of rocks forward. Make a slight arc to it (if you have enough to touch both walls and still have the arc, skip adding more rocks) and plant the E. tenellus in front of the rock wall. For the taller background plants I'd look at rubin/red rubin swords, or melon swords. On the rocks I'd shoot for something like flame moss or christmas moss.

can you get E. tenellus that are bigger then that picture caz mine are about 8 inchs tall? or maybe i have a different plant.

ok fellas, tried a new rock arrangement. hows this look? better? worse? lemme know!

I love where you are going with this. Is the black substrate just gravel or is it some sort of fertilizer?

ok, one last layout for tonight! :nilly:
