It looks good. A really low ground cover will make that tank really spark.
thx wyld! im sticking to my plans of doing b. japonica and HC, keep it low and simple. i think this is FINALLY the final design. anybody else? speak now or forever hold your peace!!!

ok, last update (i think :)) for my hardscape! i went to my LFS and found that they sold Flourite bags for $12.99  even the Flourite sand which usually costs more. so i bought 5 bags of Flourite black sand and mixed it with the existing gravel i had in the tank.

and here's the FINAL FINAL design!!

up next, i will be ordering my lighting so i can start buying the HC. i plan on growing the HC emersed using the dry start method for about 6 weeks. in those 6 weeks, i will buy the filters and co2 setup so that i can have everything ready after the emersed stage.

stay tuned :)

Looks freakin sweet! Now add some water already!

Time for water. Just remember use a dispersion plate, and low flow or you will have to redo your sand again.

almost time for water, maybe a few more months :nilly: wyld, have you used the dry start method for growing any plants? ive been doing some reading on the Barr Report abou this and it says to keep the substrate soaked/wet up to the surface, but do not let it form puddles.

my question is, since my substate has some steep slopes, can i still grow the HC emersed on these parts, or will it dry out? if thats the case, it seems as though i can only grow the HC in the middle part of the tank since the other levels are much higher. any ideas?

Looking good JC! Youre going to have to make a time lapse of the growth.

thank you sir! :)

Fill the tank to the lowest point, start growing the HC emersed. Let it spread a little, then start working on moving the plants upwards. Raise the water level a little, add more new HC, work your way up.

ok thx. so will some of the HC be ok if it becomes submerged while growing the rest of it emersed? even w/o co2 or nutrients (i plan on dry dosing)?
