are you also running some strong powerheads? I just do not like to see poop, the more flow the more the mechanical filteration eats it up.

You just saying lots of bio media is what makes the difference?

nope just the flow from the pump... water is always crystal clear... fish poop part of nature it always makes its way to a fiter and fx5s will clear is very quickly..

as far as UV goes and fx5 when you add media your flow does drop... plot the UV around the flow if not a small powerhead/pump will just hook right up to a UV... i have a 25w gamma that will hang right on to a tank... cost me 120$ brand new give or take a few $.... a 40w uv would be great on your fx5 and be good for a upgraded tank as well

thanks guys. I'm going to start looking at some rays today. I have a 125 that's setup now that I can put one in untill the 220 is setup. but if I don't fine anything then I'll just keep looking.

you still have the "project fish", right ??
once it gets big, i think it would look nice with some rays ...
not as good as those Peacocks you had, but you already sold them so i guess you are SOL
how bout a big IR ??

Yup he's easy 10" now. He's in need of a move soon but I think he's going to be the first one into the 220.

Yeah the peacocks would have been nice but I'm going to have to go more high end pred for this tank. I need to have more fish with teeth. That's just my style I guess I try to get away from the uber preds but they keep pulling me back. lol

No IRs they just won't fit into the picture correctly..

i'd rather have some color in my tanks!!!
all those fish with teeth are silver and boring!!

jk, i will be really jealous and upset i didnt take the dorado once he colors up

and as for rays, if you are going to get one, you should get that brackish one that TFD has (or had?) on aquabid ... it was pretty bad@ss looking IMO

what about a gator gar ?

color ?! who needs it. lol GATF has red in them and Armatus have some redish orange. lol Dorado has red yellow and black. That's alot of color for me.

I'm going to stay away from from TFD for rays b/c I hear alot of bad things about rays from him.

and A gator gar will just be to big. but I did think about it for a little bit.

i dont think 1/4" of red on the tip of the tail counts!!!
thats like saying a channel catfish is colorful b/c they have a white belly, lol

anyhow, i wonder why it is 95% of the "toothy" fish are silver ??? so prey cant see them swimming full speed at them ??

My only critique is, why the hell isn't it 650 gallons? :)
