He's at least 8' in total lenth, and has the the yellow spots on his back.

I remember you mentioning something in an earlier post, about two different types?

I know there are a few diferent morphotypes with some having larger yellow spots and diferent patterns.

The morphs are just from different islands- much like the water monitor morphs. Cool lizrad though. I have a lot of respect for croc monitor keepers.

thanx,
Yes, he is gorgeous to look at, but at the same time, he is also BIG, POWERFUL, UNPREDICTABLE, and EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

Seriously...we have a pair of 4' Bluetails at work that are horrible enough, I can only imagine what dealing with that one is like.

What an animal!

I only have a tegu, but in what ways is he so dangerous? Why cant you just do feeding and watering remotely/automatically with dangerous animals?

Remotely, as in far apart, or from a distance? No, that won't work.
Thats high risk.

One day I was cutting some holes in the top of his old cage, a tool fell through the hole and landed on the top of his hide box. He got spooked and shot out of that box, like he was shot out of a cannon, bolting across a 12' cage in a second or two, and stopping on a dime before hitting the wall. That scared the living crap out of me.

I said to myself, this guy could actually get me anytime he wants, just by me not paying attention for a few seconds.

So from that day on, I completely changed the way I feed , water and maintain his encloser.
