I've always wanted a pet crow or raven. I was tempted to snag a baby from a crows nest in the woods next to my house a few years ago. Needless to say, I didn't. I don't think they'd be that hard to keep either, I mean they eat garbage! You'd just want to give them plenty of room to fly and stuff. They're very intelligent birds and I bet they could become bored very quickly without attention.

If crows and ravens are illegal to keep I would say the next best thing would be European Starlings. These little birds can even learn to talk. Needless to say I'm out looking for a few nest this year
I have kept a raven in the states. Yes it was illegal in my area. The baby fell out of it's nest and would have died. Took it in a called the vet and Fish and Game. Both told me to put it back to be eaten by a cyote. But I raised it and it was fantastic. I fed it rotten deer flesh (since they are carrion eaters). It only learned to say hello, but it would bark like our neighbors dog and scare local cats to death (they are the largest song bird). I had the police show up once when it opened someones mailbox, flew onto thier roof above the porch, and ripped the mail apart, throwing the pieces onto the owner 
I told the police that it is illegal to own a raven and that I did not cage or restrict it's movement.
As a side note: do not get one. They steal your tools and hide them. They will take your keys and fly off with them. They can rip jewlery out of womens ears. And eventualy they try to peck apart a transformer and you find their body at the bottom of the pole
