Cryptoheros chetumalensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I think you may be confusing archocentrus with amphilophus. Archocentrus that are available in the hobby (both centrarchus and multispinosis) are on the mild side of aggression in the CA cichlid spectrum. Centrarchus will hold their own with mid sized fish, but are no competition for amphilophus or parachromis.

My bad - I was thinking of convict cichlids (Cryptoheros or Amatitlania nigrofasciatus, depending on what they are properly considered now), not Amphilophus or Archocentrus.

No worries, fug202. Once somebody takes up working on the Cryptoheros genus I bet we will see some changes anyway.

Got my fish today. After a few hours in the tank, the male and female are going through pre spawning stuff. Gorgeous Crpytohero, the female has lots of red and some yellow. I'll try to post a picture later, I don't want to interrupt the pre-spawning.

Damn, wish my pair would work that fast! My cutteri have paired off and for a week have defended their cave, but have yet to "do the deed"... Good luck and post pics! You don't often see a crypto thread on here lately

congratz man!

How are they when guarding free swimmers? My pair is REALLY mellow.

Very Cool news Aaron !
