Cryptoheros chetumalensis

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Hmm,

Maybe I either have a laid back pair or else they are still getting used to the tank. I have 10 fry that are about 1.5", so hopefully those pair off in the next few months.

Ichy,
Sure thing! She did not lay many eggs, I hope the next spawn is larger.

The pair really stepped up the aggression after the fry went free swimming. I would still classify them as a mellow Cryptohero compared to their more aggressive cousins like cutteri and the regular con.

Hello,

For those of you that have kept Cryptoheros chetumalensis, can you give me any information on their temperament? I have heard they are a mellow Cryptohero and wanted thoughts on what I could mix them with.

I thought about trying out Honduran red points or A. multispinossa, I figured both species would be mellow enough to let the chets dominate. I'll be keeping them in a 125g with some swordtails.

Any information you can give on breeding would also be helpful.

Thanks,
Aaron
They are quite mellow until nesting, when the big males become territorial. I live on Laguna Bacalar and have a mixed population of cichlids, tetras and catfish and guppies at my dock . They eat rice, dogfood, tortillas and ground corn.
