Yeah he was a beast, raised in a 220g tank so always had plenty of space and food. I don't think the warm water (~27C) did him any favours though, he was only ~3 years old when he died. Not sure what the usual lifespan is for a medium sized cichlid but I would have thought it was more than that.

Yeah the higher temps usually shorten the lifespan of fish, usually I would think 5 is appropriate

Thanks. There are 3 different males. Dad of the two other is slightly smaller.
BellycrawlerJaws or anyone else-have you've ever notice the changes on fin coloration?
Blue-breeding
Younger-red
Older-red/yellow.
My oldest male had red fins when younger, but they are more yellow now.

I definitely notice the blue when breeding and the red when not (my avatar is my male in breeding dress), have seen some of the yellow lately (have pics on here I think)... Interesting as they age
