Huh? That gar is actualy slightly overweight. You do not want them to have too much girth.

i have two cuban gars myself... they get fed only once every 3-4 days and a couple pellets as a snack and i probly double that thickness..also look at xanders cubans.. THICK..not tryin to tell rob how to take care of his fish just giving him my opinion from my experience with this fish

atractosteus(cubans gators n tropicals) are very much stockier than other gars, the cuban looks fine size wise from what i can see in the given pic. i hope it's going into a primarily gar dedicated tank and not a community!

ps aragonite sand keeps the gars gold and stress free

Thanks Justin. Remember the fish arrived Tuesday from the airport, they were starved prior to shipping. Also at 13" they will not be as thick as Xanders.

Not to contradict you too much man, Im sure you know your stuff..... however.... I have also kept Cubans, and this was one of mine. And if you had a Cuban with double the girth at the same length you would have a problem. This fish is healty and eats like a champ, but at 13inches there is no way he should be double his current girth.

no offence taken... however i cant stop the cubes from eating.. when i have 40+ bichers in the tank as well i set the food in all at once and whoever eats,..eats.. cant stop them from wanting food n they seem happy as ever! always like to encounter fellow cuban owners
