Hey guys, Here is a picture of my cuban, Him and his female actually died from this disease very slowly. Now a 5" female blacknasty has caught the same thing. I have heard it might be a bacterial infection(coloumnarius). Any thoughts would be awesome. IMAG0533.jpgIMAG0539.jpg

I guess im tryna find out what it is and how to cure it. Thanks

that is nasty good luck add salt for now
Edit: haha was sup dan its jose, also you get more replies quicker if u just post in the sa/ca cichlid section cuz this section is really dead

I have never seen anything like this. In general you want to increase the tank temp some (low 80's is good) this way if it is a bacterial thing it might interfere with replication of the bacteria. Also add salt (follow the directions on the box).

Also do lots of water changes (30-50% daily) and add a little extra stress coat.

As this doesn't look like any fungal thing I have seen I would say that bacterial is you best bet and you might want to go and get something for it especially if you have other tankmates and don't want it to spread.

Good luck and keep us updated.

Yeah i have my water always at 82-84 and ive added salt. With the cubans i quarantined them and turned up the temp. They died that night. I believe if it is a bacterial infection heat causes it to spread and take over faster.

wow that looks nasty. hope your fish gets better

its prolly viral, i would recommend a uv
