wtf thats nasty what type of nail does that

Try google parasitic snails you will find that those eat plants... Try google snails laying eggs on fish...and you will find nothing. Google white pimples on fish and red ulcers and you will find lots of bacterial causes. I highly doubt you have stumbled on something entirely new here. I believe it is bacterial and you need antibiotics; coopersafe, salts will do nothing for that. Raising temperatures will probably make it worse. Sequential bacterial infections usually mean unclean tanks(most of them are not as contagious as ich). I suggest if you let this fish die, examine your tank maintenance practice otherwise your otherwise will also get it. My last post here. It's your fish.

Yeah im definitly not crossing out bacteriel infection. But they seem to be the secondary source. Dan was explaining the fish get them buy rubbing on gravel and such and they slide.beneath the scales. this dosent seem that far fetched seeing the last two times i cleaned out my canister.filter i sae really small snails and had.no clue how or when they got in my system. Also the only fish that got that issue.were in the tanks where i spotted the snails.

I dont see why you would get upset over it. If you wana prove your right thats cool. I want someone to be right. But why would i spend 30 to treat a tank just cause i think it might be bacterial and dnt know gram negative or positive or a positive id on what it is.

If your sure you know how to treat it come get it, im sure youve purchesed fish from me in fremont here before. Dan

wonder what ever became of this.

Hey, so up date. I still have the female black nasty. I actually have had a few other fish get it. I have treated three fish in the tank with quick cure to kill the annals that (dan)cichluvr told me was the cause. i have actually scraped off the eggs of the bodies of two and with the quick cure they dignify come back. The fish that caught it showed no stiffness of sickness except some small irritation. It is actually almost completely gone now.

So with that said weather this is caused by snail eggs or not I'm not 100% sure but I'm leaning that direction. Any case it appears quick cure is the answer. To bad the company that makes the stuff went out of business and we cannot tweet it any longer.
