anybody in socal have any luck getting their thinbars thats been going around on pellets? mines hasnt budged for a month. there stomachs are extremely caved in. but i dont think im gonna budge either :grinno::grinno::grinno:
just curious anybody succesfully get theirs on pellets?
im only asking about the thinbars that are currently all over the lfs in socal.

dont let them die tong!!!

thin bars are reknown for being the most suseptible to dieing.
get them eating somethign else, before its too llate.

If they are small size, you have plenty of time to convert them, as they grow soooo slowly.

Hi Tong,
I have all my NTT on pellet and dry shrimp.
How long have you starved them? Do you have any other fishes with them or just them in the tank?
It's took me about 3 to 4 weeks. First I starved them for about 2 days, then I fed them with pellets. at first, they came up for food then stop, didn't touch the food. then I starved them for another 2 or 3 days, then tried again with pellets. It happened the same thing it happened the first time. I kept trying it for about a week and half or two weeks, finally 3 out of 6 taking pellets, the others 3 still not touching.
At that time I didn't want the 3 that not eating to die, so I fed them live blood worm for about 3 days, then I tried again. This time I tried with dry shrimps. After kept trying for about 4 times, all of them taking dry shrimps and then pellets. That is how I did it with my first group of NTT. (All died, after my 1 month vac. the outlet was short, kill all the power, so no air, heater and water cirl)

For the second group, I learned that it'll work faster if we have other fishes that fast eater and not shy with them in the same tank. I bought 2 mono and 2 red severum and put in the tank with 4 NTT and 2 IT and 1 ST. Fishes are followers. I got all of the dats eating pellets and dry shrimp except the ST (only dry shrimps.)
Good luck Tong.

i have trained fish off food many times. even starved dats up to 4 months. but im specifically talking about the thinbars that are currently being sold in the lfs in southern california. i bought 3 from all different stores. and all 3 wont budge with pellets. starting to get real irritating and starting to look real ugly too

don't panic

EAT OR DIE only a foolish fish will starve to death when their is food in the tank daily

If you don't already have fish eating pellets in your tank I wouldn't starve them for that long. For a fish that's never eaten pellets it would probably look at pellets as rocks. I haven't even tried starving my 4" thinbar, but both my AT and IT were starved into eating pellets. I look at my thinbar as a little more fragile so I won't try to starve him until he's bigger. Plus only one dat eating shrimp and krill isn't that hard to maintain. A technique I used on the AT and IT was to stuff pellets into shrimp, and progressivly drop smaller pieces of shrimp with pellets.

damn i wanna get my thinbars on pellets. i starved them for a month and still they dont take it. they come up half way and run away. it hurts me to starve them. but there are supplements you can try using like kent garlic xtreme but its still 50/50. they are very picky when it comes to eating.

atleast urs goes up to the pellets.... mine dont even come out for feedings hahaa.
there still alive! and still starving. i wonder how long its gonna take until they realize there going to die if they dont eat.

Maybe one day Thin Bars will ended up like wide bars and if they end up dying on you you might just think back whether or not you made the right choice starving them to death because from what your making it sound the grim reaper is nocking on their door. Sell them there your other option.
