Will be moving two Uaru sp. "orange" from Ryan and 5 Heros notatus from Wetspotcx, and a female H. rotkiel into the tank in the near future. Now you know why I think the tank is overstocked :D

Current tankmates:

A beeding pair of H. psittacus. They are the dominant fish in the tank, but don't bother anybody. They just cruise along and everybody gets out of the way :)

12" Male - my favorite fish. Very confident...like a puppy dog and eats from my hand.

10" female. Not in this picture but her belly/breast turns red when she's happy.

A breeding pair of red and gold H. efasciatus. I know some of you don't care too much about these color morphs, but they add a lot of color to the tank. They are around 7-8". Will try to save some fry next time just to see what they look like.

A male H. rotkiel 6-7". He's been waiting for a mate for months. Well, the wait is finally over...received a wild female from Jeff chilling at Sean's. I wonder how he will react :D

And the cleaning crew - a 5" Fei Feng. It's the fastest growing fish I've ever owned...probably tripled in size in two months. Nick named "cluster bomber", and the last picture shows why :D

WOW...love your fish!!!! thanks for posting a pick of cluster bomb

The more I see those Hoplarchus, the more I want one (or two, or four :D).

The fish look great. How old are all your sevs? I'm impatiently waiting on mine to grow. They've made it to 5 or 6" and put on bulk but that's about it. I want another couple inches on the males at least.

Can't wait to see the notatus and the uaru together.

Ill have to look up JD's then. I must have missed that thread. You keep getting all of this nice stuff, I can't keep up! Dat and Red Ceibal rebounded nicely and are doing well now.

EDIT: I tried to look up JD thinking it was the first 2 letters in a user name and apparently I was wrong. Whats the user name so I can do a search? Thanks a ton. Just curious what these little fellas will look like.

whole tank shots are here - http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=288537

It's "jgentry". He has both the offspring of my pair, and the siblings of your babies, so be specific when you ask him... He's got loads of cool fish!

Hoooooly cow, sweet fish, and very nice combination. I myself love my gold severum, super red severum, and hoplarchus psittacus. Yesterday, he backed down a petenia splendida (red bay snook) twice his size. Yours being twice the size of mine is much more beautiful to this point. Best wishes.

Thanks! They definitely don't take it from anybody....well in my tank at least :D

Yep...they are definitely very cool fish :)

My sevs are probably 1.5 years old. The gold and the red already bred once but the fry got eaten. The rottie is waiting for his new girlfriend, currently chilling in Sean's tank.

I'm waiting for the tank to stabilize a bit more before adding the Uaru (they grew quite a bit btw). The notatus are in a 55 for observation....being treated with salt and drugs just in case. Two of them already claimed half of the tank, and are flashing breeding color and cleaning a rock. No tubes yet.

thanks for the response. those altifrons of yours are top notch. I can only hope mine look that good when they mature. thier colors just POP! I am liking your setup. Esp the sand with the rocks mixed in the left hand corner. just looks natural.

Nice pics of cool fish.... Dont you dare throw a Dat in there or it will go to crap.....

Hey jworth,
I'm the one with both of them. The psittacus you got from Ken are the columbian variety. They have more browns/greens in them and not nearly ar much red. The red breasted ones you see generally come from brazil or could be a cross of the 2. I have 4 offspring from the pair that Peter has that are in the range from 9"-14" and are still growing. The male is going to be a giant. I have one aldult from the same pair that your little ones came from. It is a touch smaller and looks similiar, just doesn't have as much red.

:( wish i had got the 14" male. mine seems to have slowed in growth and is right at 10"-11" so im guessing female like you said JD. looking at peters pair, it looks like the female has more red under the head

My male has no red under his throat sean. All 3 females are blazing red. That is why I initially thought yours was a female. My largest female is very nice looking. She just doesn't have that huge head and quite the bulk of the male. I had heard the most of them max out a 14" in an aquarium? I'm a little scared to see how big mine is going to be if he is just shy of 14" and only 2 years old.
