All fish are F1s ;)

eh? I mean f1 as in wild parents. I was trying to see if JD's and my parrots are f1 (not that it really matters). Thats why I was apologizing for the derailment.

When are you picking up the Rotkeil female? It will be interesting to see all those species pair up and see how they claim breeding turf and defend nests. The more I look at your tank the more interested I am in acquring some more species to see if I can get multiple pairs in the same tanks. It just makes the tanks that much more interesting than just a bunch of fish swimming around, although there's nothing wrong with that either. The sad thing may be that I might be more excited about seeing your tank progress than my own :screwy:I gotta work on that haha.

LOL don't mind my comment....old habits die hard :D

I know who's breeding the ones you got. Chances are that the parents are wild, but I'm not positive. Better ask Ken when he gets back.

The tank is surprisingly peaceful, and I suspect that it will remain so until the psittacus want to breed. The only fish claiming territories are some eartheaters - the dominant altifrons male and a female claimed an area on the far left, the orange head pair claimed the small spot under the driftwood in the center, and the daemon pair claimed the spot under the driftwood on the right. They only chase away other eartheaters; the psittacus pair and the severums are free to roam.

Picking up the rotkiel later this month when Sean is all done. I have a 55 as a breeder, which is being used as quarantine tank for 5 wild notatus. I think two of them are getting ready to spawn...

Are these f1's then? could you put a link with the pics?

Sorry to get off track Peter.

I believe they are actually F2. I'll go back through my fish journal and see what Ken said when I got it.

I don't have any pictures posted. I'm too lazy for that. I like to look at other people tank and keep mine hidden;). That way Peter is always wondering what I have hidden in my tanks.

The one JK47 posted is very similiar to what yours will turn out like.

I keep a notebook with everything I buy, when I got them, collection and parental info. I also keep a record of all spawning, fry birth dates, any interesting bahavior, ect. Pretty much when I check everything everyday if I see something interesting, new, breeding etc I write it down in my book. That's the only way I can keep up with F#'s (I know it's not really correct terminalogy), were I got fish, collections, how old fish are, and who I send what to. I try to keep up with everything I ship, to who, and how many.

Good point. I often find myself looking for the first pictures I took of certain fish, to figure out when I got them or when they were born. Maybe I should start keeping a journal too.

Lol, you guys are killing me. Laugh all you want, but my little note book has come in handy several times when I needed to get a fish or a couple fry back becuase I lost a female or just forgot what generation or collection a fish was. I guess it is a bit strange that I write down fish junk but am to lazy to even reply to emails most of the time.

Lets just call it an aquarium log book:).
