I want to make a custom aquarium with the dimensions of, 60" x 60” x 80”. I was wondering what thickness acrylic I should use. This will be a salt water tank with a giant pet lobster. Any ideas of how I can brace the aquarium from exploding etc. Any input will be appreciated.

Acrylic and lobster is a bad combination due to the amount of scratches it will make but even glass will get scratched.

A cylindrical acrylic tank is the most economical to build. Less glue seams, thinner acrylic possible. A well made 2m deep tank can get away with 6mm for example.

You might find better priced acrylic panels through swim pool construction - most import or bulk purchase 100mm thickness so going thicker may work out cheaper. Thicker also being safer/easier to glue for inexperienced.
